It is critically important that we understand the importance and effects of automation on our society. Personally, I disagree with the statement that automation will lead to more people loosing their jobs. I feel this way for two reasons which I shall explore in the following essay.
To begin with, I think that automation will free up humans in great amounts. The repetitive and the hazardous tasks which are done by humans can be replaced with robots now. For example, in Japan there is a restaurant which is completely run by robots without any human intervention and this saves the humans from doing the repetitive task of serving food and collecting plates. In construction and manufacturing business robots play a major role. We always hear some news about people hurting themselves while working in factories or a mishap of someone falling from a tall building and loosing their lives. All this can be avoided by automation and robots. We have completely automated food manufacturing line in today's world. There are also some more advantages of automation in food industries such as constant taste, good hygiene and same quantity of packing. I believe that human brain is capable of doing so much more than serving food and doing repetitive tasks in manufacturing industries.
Furthermore, I think automation will help increase the quality of the jobs. Companies will need people with much more talent and precision now, to control these automated processes as this will be no piece of cake. This will lead to a seriousness in attitude today's youth and make them value their jobs more. Automation will bring about a great revolution in our society by helping people to think in a more creative and innovative way. This will rise the economy of a country and also shoot up the graph of our progress. The quality of education will also increase because of automation. Since the job market will be competitive and specific for the skills they are looking for, students will have to be trained in a different fashion. Universities will adapt a more practical way of teaching rather than theoretical. There will be more focus on students doing internships and getting an actual industrial hands on experience rather than just giving exams.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that, automation will increase the job market in great deals. This is because it will free people from the monotonous tasks and help them be more creative. The quality of jobs will increase and employers will be searching for talented people and this in turn will make the universities to adapt better ways of teaching.

The reading and the lecture are both about rising sea levels. The author of the reading believes that, there is nothing to be worried about even though the sea levels are rising. The lecturer refutes these claims made in the article. She thinks that immediate action should be taken on this problem.
First of all, the author points out that, the polar ice melting is not a reason for the increase in sea level. It is mentioned that ice is in water and after melting it only displaces the level and nothing drastic happens due to this phenomenon. This point is challenged by the lecturer. She claims that melting of ice on land is responsible for rising sea level. Furthermore, she argues that, this ice is present in regions such as Ireland and is always frozen. Human activities are responsible for melting of this ice.
Secondly, the author suggests that, the source of increase in sea level is not known. In the article, it is stated that NASA still doesn't know from where this water is coming. The lecturer, however asserts that, even though there is not complete research done some information is known. She goes on to say that, the ice wouldn't have melted for 10000 years if there was no human activity. Humans burn the fossil fuels which gives rise to the problem of green house effect and has caused the ice to melt 100 times faster.
Finally, the author points that rising in sea levels is a slow and gradual process and humans have sufficient time to adjust to it. The author contends that the sea level has been fluctuating since the continents have merged from the oceans. In contrast, the lecturer's stance is, humans don't have enough time to solve this problem. She notes that a great part of our economy is based near the coast side and this problem will cause a loss of 20% land mass.

The author of the reading passage and lecturer are talk about gradual increase of sea level and it effect on environment humanity. The lecturer thinks that human acts now for rising sea level issue. For holding her opinion, she gives reasons which we explore in the following paragraph.
The author state that even we notice the rise in the polar ice melting this is not cause the increase in the sea level. The lecturer agrees that the documented evidence is not the reason for increase in the sea level. But the peraform ice which means the ice on the land which never melts can be able to affect the rise in the sea level. Because of increased use of the fossil fuel cause the rise in the temperature which can melt the peraform ice. So, there is additional water moves from land to the ocean which can cause the increase in the sea level.
Furthermore, the author assert that human’s have enough time to adjust for increase in the sea level. In the contrast lecturer explain that most of the human population and economical activities are the near the sea area. So, it is important for human to act on the rise in the sea level.

Recently there has been debate on the rising sea level and its consequences. More specifically, in regard to the passage, the writer puts forth the point that rising sea level is a normal process and there is nothing to worry about it. In the listening passage, the lecturer is quick to find some serious flaws in the writer's claims. In fact, the professor believes that rapid rise in sea level is due to human activities. She goes on to say that we need to act immediately in order to avoid a grim future and also challenges each point made by the writer.
First and foremost, the author says polar ice melting is completely safe and supports the same by giving example of how the water doesn't spills even if the ice cube in a glass of water melts. But the lecturer rebuts this statement. She says that melting of ice caps is not important, and the focus should be shifted to permafrost, the ice present on land. It is this ice which when melts displaces nothing in water and is the additional water that gets added to the sea levels.
Secondly, the author believes that the source of increase in sea level is unknown, even NASA, the scientific agency is unable to retrieve the same. But the lecturer counters the claim by mentioning that even NASA has proven a connection between ocean swallowing landmass and permafrost melting. The ice on land usually doesn't melts but it is due to human activities that we are facing the rising sea levels. Moreover, it is due to the greenhouse effect which has made the melting of permafrost 100 times faster.
At last, the author concludes by saying that there is nothing to worry and it is a slow process and hence humans will get enough time to adjust. But according to lecturer, this argument doesn't holds merit. There is little to no time left to avoid the drastic change that we will face if no action is taken. Moreover, we can loose more than 20% landmass if we continue with our activities. Hence, there is immediate need to act as soon as possible.
Lucila Baravalle says
The article introduces the topic of rising sea levels. The writer says that we as a society should not be concerned at all about this matter because it is a natural process. The lecturer, however, disagrees. She points out that the reason of this increasing water is human activity. Also she believes since it is very concerning and it could bring an unfavorable fate for humanity if a change is not approached soon.
To begin with, the author states that even though it is true that there are currently large quantities of melting ice, it is certainly not affecting the density of the ocean. The reason for this is that this ice is already inside the water so, even if it melts that should not mean it will take more space in a different chemical state. The woman in the lecture believes there are flaws in the author´s position. She contends that the problem is in fact not the ice that is already underwater, but rather the dangerous effects of land ice melting. She explains how the huge mass of ice that is located on earth would end in drastic consequences if it keeps melting in such rapid speed.
According to the writing, worldly recognized organizations like NASA have stated not knowing the reason behind the increasing sea level. The speaker, on the other hand, points out that there were indeed many proven explanations. For example, humans burning fossils leads to great amounts of land ice melting, which results on more water on the sea.
Additionally the author says that the reason is probably not more that the natural cycle of earth that changes constantly, therefore, humans would have time to adjust when it is required. In contrast, the lecturer warns that if the sea levels keeps elevating at this fast motion, we will not be able to adjust to such a dramatic shift. She finally advices us to act on this matter as a society as soon as possible.
As you can see, the author and lecturer hold very different views on this matter.

Automation is the use of automatic equipments in manufacturing and production facilities. Some scholars think an increase in automation will lead to people loosing their jobs while others totally disagree to that. In my opinion, i completely agree to the fact that the increase use of automation will lead to people loosing their jobs.
On one hand, the increased use of automation will not lead to people loosing their jobs because more people will be needed to operate these automatic equipments as they cannot be operated on their own, hence more jobs Will be available for those in the computer departments.
On the other hand, i totally agree that an increase in automation will lead to the loss of jobs bases on the following points.
In the first instance, an increase in automation entails an increase in speed and effectiveness in the various work, production or manufacturing facilities and human efforts is nothing compared to that of these automatic equipments. Also, automatic equipments just need a single and correctly ran program for them to function properly and once this is done, human efforts won't be needed to either follow up or record data since the machines have been programmed to do all these. Furthermore, the world is gradually becoming a global village and everything computerized, this clearly tells us that in the long-run jobs Will be available mostly for those in the computer departments. So instead of learning a job which will probably be taken away from u in the future and replaced with a computer, why don't you study computer instead?
Finally, recent statistics show that most job opportunities are available online and some people are even self employed. This is to tell us that automation is gradually taking over the labour industry.
Based on the points stated above, i totally and completely agree to the fact that an increase in automation will lead to people loosing their jobs.
Kengmo Jennifer says
A gradual increase in sea level has been observed these last decades. This increase is not really noticable but if care isn't taken humanity will suffer the consequences in the long-run. This increase in sea level is not as a result of melting of ice which is already in water because this ice is already in water hence cannot add to water's mass. An example is an ice cube in a glass of water. For instance if the ice cube in the glass of water melts up completely, the water in the glass wouldn't spill out. This is to tell us that melting of ice in the sea doesn't contribute to this rise in sea level since the ice is 90% already in water. The actual cause of the rise in sea level and the coming of this new water is not really known as many scientific agencies such as NASA have stated. But looking at it chronologically we see that the sea level has been fluctuating ever since the continents emerged from the primordial oceans. This is to tell us that the melting of ice on land is what actually causes this rise in sea level and not the melting of ice in water. Ice on land once melted contributes greatly to the mass of water and inorder for this problem to be solved so much land and live will be lost since about 20% of humanity lives on or around the sea. Hence precautions should be taken else in the upcoming decades humanity might suffer submersion by water bodies. The process will be slow and gradual hence humanity still has time to adjust.

Essay 2:
It is critically important that we take a look at the danger of automation. Personally, I believe that a big result of automation is people losing their jobs. I feel this way because of two specific reasons which I will explore in the following essay.
To begin with, automation means that many jobs can and will be replaced by machines. It is tempting for business owners to let a machine do a job in stead of a person, because a machine is more trustworthy than a person. A machine will not get sick, be late or unfocused. because if machines can do a job. Simply, the quality of the job might get better with a machine, and business owners do not depend on their staff any more. Thus, the choice is easily made. My personal experience is a compelling illustration of this. When I was around 16 years old, I worked at a supermarket as a cashier. At the time there were around ten cashiers working there. In contrast, when I shop at this supermarket now, there are hardly four cashiers working there. The rest of them is replaced by at least ten machines where you can scan your groceries and pay yourself, without a cashier helping you. This revolution of automatic cashiers has resulted in many people losing their jobs.
Furthermore, business owners might make more profit and safe money when they use machines for the work, in stead of letting real people do the job. This will lead as well to a chance that people will lose their job and be replaced by a machine.
For instance, my uncle once owned a clothing reparation store where he had several people working. In the past, his store was thriving. Everyone in the city who, for example, wanted their shoes repaired, or their belt a little bit shorter, went to my uncles store. At that time, clothes were a luxury product and relatively expensive. By the time fast fashion was born, the shop of my uncle became less crowded. Big machines made loads of clothes, and clothing became cheap. People didn’t repare their clothes anymore, they just threw it away and bought something new. People started to see clothes as a normal product, in stead of the luxury it was before. It didn’t take too long, and my uncle closed his store.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that automation has caused in many people losing their jobs. This is because in general using machines for work in stead of real persons will spare people time and money.

ESSAY 1:
the lecture and reading are both about melting ice and how this affects the rising of the sea level and global warming. The lecturer disputes some of the claims made in the article.
Her position is that human activity is the main reason for the increasing sea level, while the author contends that it is not.
According to the reading, the increase of the sea level is nothing to be worried about for humanity. The article mentions that the sea level has been fluctuated ever since the continents have emerged from the primordial oceans and that it is a normal process that has happened before. The lecturer challenges this specific argument. She claims that the rising is the cause of human activity, such as the use of fossil fuels. Additionally, she points out that the polar ice is melting a hundred times faster and eventually the water will take 20 percent of our land.
The author suggests that the reason of the increasing sea level is completely unknown to us. He states that it is impossible that it is because of melting polar ice, because this ice is already in the water. He goes on to say that scientific agencies like NASA have stated as well that they simply don’t know from where all the water is coming. The lecturer, however, asserts this statement. She states that the rising water is because of melting frosted ice on land, like in Greenland.
Finally, the author posits that humanity is safe and that the rising of the water is completely normal. In contrast, the lecturers stance is that the increasing water is enormous and that humanity is very endangered if we go on like this.

Automation is the backbone of the modern world. Personally, I believe that people are losing jobs due to automation. I feel this for two reasons which I will explore in the following essay.
To begin with, the definition of automation is something which makes the work of a human being easier. Nowadays many hospitals have adapted robots and machinery which has caused people to lose their jobs. My personal experience is a compelling illustration of this. I am a dancer and gymnast and I get injured very easily. About ten years ago I got injured and went to the hospital. Two doctors and four nurses had to check my injury. Every process had one doctor and two nurses. But when I got the same type of injury like a year ago there was only one doctor to examine. The X-ray and MRI scans don't need a nurse anymore. The operation theatre had only one doctor in it because they have image sensing technology which has helped many doctors in the operation.
Furthermore, the automation in the education industry has started growing. The teachers are replaced by Youtube videos and virtual assistants. For instance when I was in school I used to go to coaching classes where I used to clear my doubts and learn more about the particular subjects. But nowadays there are no coaching classes around. My little brother who is in fifth grade right now clears his doubt using youtube videos and virtual assistants.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that increase in automation is the major factor in losing jobs.

The reading and lecture are about a gradual increase in sea level. The author of the article states that this is a normal process and nothing to fear about. The professor disputes the claims made in the article. She explains that this is not normal and it's time to change.
According to the reading, ice melting is not the reason for the increase because the ice cap is already in the water. If it melts it displaces it. This argument is challenged in the lecture. She claims that the significant ice on land which is called permafrost is melting which causes the increase in sea level.
Secondly, the author claims that the organization like NASA has no clue about the reason for the increase. However, the professor says that NASA is the one who has proven the connection of melting permafrost is due to human activity which includes the burning of fossil fuels which increase greenhouse gases.
Finally, the author posits that the process of increase in sea level is slow and is part of the process of emerging continents from the primordial ocean. The professor opposes this point by explaining that there is no time to adjust and we have to act as quickly as possible.
Pavan kumar D says
An increase in automation is inevitable. it is going to happen sooner or later. If you compare the present scenario with that of a few decades ago, we as humans have made exponential progress in the field of automation. That being said I believe that, an increase in automation will inadvertently lead to people losing their jobs.
The number of jobs in the world is limited, with respect to any field. Now, if we invent a machine that can do the job for 5 people, no company is going to keep 5 people when they can just as easily be replaced by a machine. For instance, let’s consider woodcutting. We have many machines that can do the job much quicker than humans can do it. Sure, it is costly but in the long run it surely is cheaper than paying 10 people with much lesser productivity. Let’s consider a controversial topic; computers. Now, many will surely argue that computers, are what employs most of the people on this planet, and I agree but the goal of every company is to automate, so as time passes if the company initially required 1000 employees, maybe a decade or two later they would require only half the number of employees.
Another problem is machines can do the jobs much better than humans and have a much better productivity rate. Machines do not need sleep they do not need any of the basic necessities that a human requires. For example, initially; in order to construct a building many people were employed specially to move and carry around heavy objects, however with the coming of machines instead of hiring 10 people to carry something only 1 person is hired, the one who knows how to operate the machine. Also, while these 10 people would take hours to move something from one point to another, coupled with many breaks the machine can do the job in a much shorter time. Take another example of the popular company lays prepares its product. It uses automation right from the beginning of the process, that is from washing and peeling the potato, till the end i.e. putting chips in the bag with the exact weight. This process is done very quickly, if it were not for this process, they would probably not be able to meet the demand too. The productivity of some machines is just too good to replace with humans.
To sum it up, I strongly believe that an increase in automation will put people out of jobs, simply because automating anything yields a higher productivity, the one thing that is required to run a successful business.
Pavan kumar D says
My passage is about 450 words (is this a problem). Can you please read and suggest how I can improve I have my exam on 14
The reading passage states about the gradual increase of the sea level, and how it is not much of an issue. However, the lecturer has a totally different point of view.
The passage initially states that the increase in sea level is not due to the melting of the polar ice caps, since the ice is already in water, the water is already displaced, and when this ice melts, there's not much change in the rise in sea level to cause any alarm. The professor agrees with this statement, that the melting of ice that is already in water is not what leads to an increase in the sea level, however she does mention that it leads to other environmental issues. To state her point she suggests that the melting of permafrost certainly does lead to an increase in the sea level. She mentions that permafrost is the ice that is present on land, and since this ice never existed in the sea, when it melts, it will certainly add to the amount of water in the sea. She conveys that there is no accurate measure as to how much water is trapped in the form of permafrost, and it is hugely underestimated.
The reading comprehension believes that many scientific agencies such as NASA have no clue where all the additional water comes from to account for the increase in sea level. However, the professor suggests that NASA can't account for some of the additional water, while they are confident that the leading cause for the increase is due to the melting of permafrost. This melting of permafrost is due to human intervention. It occurs mostly because of the burning of fossil fuels which leads to the greenhouse effect inadvertently increasing the temperature globally. If it were not for humans, it would take 10000 years for the permafrost to melt and lead to an increase in sea level, but the rate of melting permafrost has risen drastically and is about 100 times faster.
The passage also suggests that the sea level has always been in a constant state of flux since its inception, that is ever since continents merged. It also mentions that at a point all of our land masses were submerged and this process will happen again but by then enough time would have passed for humanity to adjust. The professor gainsays this by stating that there is not enough time left for humanity to adjust to this change. She asserts how the economy and our population will decrease rapidly. About 20 percent of the land located near the sea will be gone.
While the reading passage takes the matter of an increase in sea level very lightly the professor denies it and maintains how important of an issue it is.
Saksham Sahai Srivastava says
Task 2
Automation can be considered as an impact of advancement in study of Artificial Intelligence in the field of science and technology. It is true that the major aim of automation is to reduce the work burden on humans and to get the task done by machines.
I disagree with the statement that automation can lead to people losing their jobs in the future. At the present scenario, there is much more research and development required so that all the jobs become completely automated. Even if the advancement of science & technology develops completely automated devices still there would be some manpower required in order to operate the device. Let us consider the example of an aeroplane. Nowadays the aeroplanes are so highly automated that it can trace it's own path to reach it's destination by the pilot just giving the input of the destination location. But does this mean that the number of pilots hired by the aircraft company are less than what they hired some years ago. The large manufacturing companies have heavyweight and highly automated devices but still the number of workers hired by the industry does not go down.
Also to increase automation, continous research and development is going on which also in a way demands require more number of people to work in this realm and thus provides them job in a certain way. Most of the big firms and companies have a separate research and development departments in order to increase the automation of the task that their employees are manually performing.
Finally I would like to conclude that increase in automation would only lead to increase in number of people getting jobs as this itself has become an area of focus and more and more people are hired for this task.

TASK 1
The article and the lecturer both deal with great increase of sea levels. Whilst the author of the article states that this is a natural process for three specific reasons, the lecturer opposes the authors claims. In her opinion, humans are responsible for this increasing.
First the writer claims that one of the reasons for increase of sea level is not polar ice melting. Furthermore, it is stated in the article that nothing serious happens because about 90% of the ice is already in water when it melts. In contrast, the lecturer argues that what is important is not the melting ice caps but the melting of permafrost which she defines as ice on land that melts and brings a huge amount of water onto the sea. Greenland is a compelling example of this situation.
Secondly, the author mentions that authorities such as NASA does not know where this new water is coming from. However the lecturer believes that the authors 2nd reason is inaccurate. Further, she remarks that the cause for sea level rapidly rising is due to human activities. This is exemplified by burning fossil fuels that increase greenhouse gases.
Finally, the writer asserts that continents have emerged from primordial oceans which is the reason as to why sea levels has been fluctuating. In addition to that, in the article the author mentions that it will most likely happen again although it would be a slow process. As opposed to the author, the lecturer holds that 20% of land mass will be drowned due to water hugely increasing in the sea. Therefore, she highlights that this problem needs to be addressed immediately.

Task 2:
Like it or not, I believe automation is one of the many things that humans cannot avoid. As long as humans exist, I don't think the development of technology is ever going to stop.
Automation is a key output in technological development. We have seen many things work better and faster with it. On the other hand, job loss is the consequence of that.
No one can deny that there are both positive and negative aspects of automation. I think job loss can lead to more job opportunities. For example, I've seen the transition from manual payment to automatic payment of Indonesia's tollgate. As a result, many tollgate officers have lost their jobs. But, I believe the development of that machine has given another opportunity for others. So I think people have to figure out how the world works in this modern age. Instead of protesting the impact of automation, I suggest people learn new skills so they can compete with one another.
On the other hand, automation clearly does not have the power to handle all sorts of jobs. For example, I work in the media industry. Recently, a Chinese news agency invented a robot for reading the news of a television program. It works fine, but there are some other assignments the robot cannot do such as asking questions or hosting a discussion program. For those kinds of jobs, the capability of a real human brain is still needed.
Who knows what kind of automation that will be invented in the future. As a consequence, I think humans need to be prepared because scientific development is more advance now. To minimize the impact on the economy, it is the duty of every government to be prepared. Because, if the job loss happens on a large scale, it surely will damage the macro-economy.
To conclude, everyone in each layer of society needs to prepare themselves for any new automation to come. We must adapt at least as fast as the evolvement of technology.

Task 1
The reading passage introduces the topic of the increase in sea level. Specifically, the writer states that it is a normal process and we don’t have to worry. But, the lecturer in the listening passage has another view. She believes that we need to act now to prevent a worse impact in the future.
In the reading, the author begins by stating that the polar ice melting isn’t the reason behind the rise in sea level. The lecturer, however, disagrees with this viewpoint which sea ice is the only concern. He explains that ice on land called permafrost is the main reason for sea-level rise. The melting of permafrost has an impact that people should be worried about.
The author also claims that ice melting is a normal activity of the earth. Again, the lecturer believes that human activity has influenced the melting process. The speaker argues that human activity such as the use of fossil fuel has been making the melting process faster.
Another example of the difference between the author and the lecturer is the speed of ice melting. While the author believes the melting is within normal speed, slow and gradual process, the lecturer affirms that human activity makes it 100 times faster.
In short, the author and the speaker have contradictory views about the process of melting ice which affects sea level.
News Line Pakistan says
The paragraph is about the gradual rise in the sea level from the past few decades. The author suggests that this increase in sea level is not due to the melting of glaciers and ice caps, because they are already present inside the water. He gave an example of a glass with some ice cubes in it. He said that a glass don’t overspill due to the ice cubes already present in it. He said that half of the landmass is already submerged at one place as seen by the eons.
The lecturer also told somewhat the same things. However, he told that sea level is rising mainly due to the melting of permafrost which is the frozen ice on the land. For example, Greenland have large deposits of ice which are melting. The main cause of this melting is global warming due to burning of fossil fuels and greenhouse effect. The ice which had to be melted in the next 10000 years is melting now a 100 times faster. This will have drastic effects on our Earth’s nature. We will lose 20% of the land mass if this situation went on.

The article introduces the the topic of rise in sea level during the last decades. The writer says that this is a gradual change and is nothing to be worried about as enough time will pass for humanity to adjust. The lecturer however disagrees. She believes that human activity is the leading reason for this catastrophe and humans don't have enough time to control this disaster.
First, the author says that melting of polar ice isn't the reason for the sea level rise. He states how ice is already in water form and so when it turns into liquid, there is no dramatic effect. The lecturer does agree that melting of ice capes isn't the main reason but believes that melting of permafrost due to human activity is responsible for the increase in sea levels. She provides an example of Greenland where huge deposits of ice take up as landmark and that, their melting increases the volume of water, leading to an increase in sea levels.
Secondly, the author believes that the source of the rise in sea level is unknown. However, the lecturer doesn't completely agree with the author and believes that his statement isn't completely true. She then goes on to say that burning of fossil fuels over the years have caused an increase in greenhouse gas which has lead to melting of permafrost resulting into a rise in the net volume of water.

Q1. The author of the passage and the speaker are explaining the topic of rise in sea levels over time. While the author is adamant that this process is not alarming and is in fact, normal with regards to the environment, the speaker states that studies have clearly proven that human activity is the cause of the rise in sea levels and that the rise should be taken seriously.
Firstly, while the speaker agrees with the author of the passage saying that melting ice caps is not important with regards to the rise in sea levels, she explains that 'permafrost',which is ice on land, is the important factor for the rise. She takes the example of Greenland and says that melting of permafrost causes an addition to ocean water unlike ice caps which are already present in water.
Secondly, in contrast to the author's point about inability to figure out the source of this rise, the speaker states that that majority of research provides an answer to the cause of rising sea levels. She continues by saying that there is a proven connection between permafrost and human activities over decades. She explains that had humans not excessively burnt or used fossil fuels that polluted our atmosphere and cause global warming, we would not be facing the challenge of rising sea levels.
Finally, the speaker strongly disagrees with the authors point of view that the rise is a gradual process and says that we as humans have little or no time. In fact about twenty percent of land mass where human population lives will be flooded very soon if this situation is not improved and brought more attention to.
In conclusion, the author of the passage believes that rising sea levels are not a cause for alarm and should be taken lightly as they are a natural process while the speaker states that based on research this situation cannot be taken lightly, whilst also providing a cause for the rise which is permafrost and not ice caps which is mentioned in both the passage and the audio clip.

I think it’s critically important that we adapt with ever changing world. Personally, I agree that increased automation will be the reason for loss of jobs. I fell this way for two reasons which I will explore in the following essay.
To begin with, if we look back to our history, this has always been the case. As humanity is always evolving and advancing, in the past tools replaced humans and now it’ll be machines. The industrial revolution, is named revolution because it caused sudden disruptions in the world order. To be more specific, my great grandfather used to work as a skilled shoe maker. Back in the days, shoe making was a valuable skill that required extraordinary skills. But as the industrial revolution arrived, shoes were mass produced in factories. Consequently my great grandfather was rendered unessential all of a sudden. Hence, he was forced to abandon the job he loved, and looked for the other ways to provide for his family.
Furthermore, I believe automation of certain jobs is almost certain. This is because over the years robots and computer chips have become more effective and reliable that their human counterparts. They can do the job in a smart and better way. As a result companies increasingly choose them instead of humans. My own example is a compelling illustration of this. About three years ago, while working in a clinical laboratory, we had clerks whose job was the transportation of human samples to and fro departments. But this changed when an automated computerized system was introduced for the exchange of samples. Consequently, this was way more effective, as it saved time and most importantly eliminated the inevitable human error. Therefore, the clerks lost their jobs. Based on this experience, I believe jobs will be lost to robots, for the simple fact that they are better and the economy always wants “better”.
In conclusion, I strongly believe increased automation will disrupt the labor force, resulting in job losses. This is because it’s been that way for centuries as humanity gets creative and machines are becoming more excellent and clever.

In the last decade, the creation of robots that could potencialy be as inteligent as humans has been a closer reality. No one can deny that there are both positive and negative aspects of automation. If I were forced to choose I would definitely agree with the fact that the increase of automation will lead to people losing their jobs. It is my firm belief that automation will improve our daily life and eventually replace humans at some jobs for a number of reasons, and I will develop these ideas in the subsequent paragraphs.
To begin with, robots are way easier to use. When working with people, you will constantly have numerous complains, about the salary, or vacation dates or even the accomodations of the company. Furthermore, you always have to be very benevolent, since your employees also have a life and they are normal humans with feelings. This of course wouldn`t be the case with automation. I have to admit that my opinion on this matter has been profoundly influenced by my own personal experience. You see, before my family used to get help from a maid every week to clean the house, but we don`t need her services anymore because my mother got an apparat that cleans everything by removing all the dust from the floor. As a result, If we never had bought this robot, we would have still needed help. For this reason the increase of automation will replace people.
Secondly, I think that automotation will be a cause for many peoople losing their jobs because it is more affordable. Companies have to pay every month a salary to their employees, whereas a robot could do the same work for only a one time purchase. The history predicts this change: it will be similar to The Industrial Revolution, where humans were replaced by machines. Drawing from my own experience I have an uncle that worked for many years in a company counting the earnings, but when machines with powerfuls softwares arrived, it was easy to program a computer to do the same and this was better rather than having to pay a person to do it. Therefore he was fired. Moreover, if this programs had never arrived, my uncle would still have his job. It is certainly clear to see why automotation will lead to people losing their jobs
In light of he above mentioned reasons, I strongly believe that automotation will replace humans at work for two main reasons. First, they are easy to apply and second, they won`t cost as much as humans.

Task 1:
In a given set of materials, the reading passage and the lecture is debating over the rise in sea level. Whilst the reading passage claims that the increase in sea level is not that a concerning issue, the lecture totally refutes the points by stating three convincing reasons.
First, the professor argues that sea level is rapidly getting higher due to human activities. The ice called permafrost in greenland does not usually melt, but by the human activities, the number of permafrost is melting even now and this will be the addition of sea levels. This challenges the point that since the ice replaces the water, nothing will be happened.
Second, the instructor claims that the scientific prove have accounted for the permafrost. Furthermore, the current measure underestimated the rate of melting by human activities. For example, burning fossil fuels can increase the speed of melting. This refutes the point that NASA still have not found the source of this new water.
Lastly, the lecturer maintains that even though the landmass is not close to the sea, there is a loss of 20 percent of the continent already. This oppose against the point that since the sea level has been always varying, it will be slow and gradual process.
TASK 2:
Since there is a development of scientific technology and robotics related to automation, these processes have become a common thing. However, some people claim that their jobs will be lost due to automation, while the others are completely against them. From my point of view, I strongly agree that there will be lesser jobs for human because of two determinants. First, less of labors for people; second, convenience of automation.
To begin with, there are already various of jobs that automations do, such as taking food order in restaurants and mechanisms in the factory. By this, there will be a high unemployment rates because labors for people are getting lesser. In addition, a lot of people who are currently working, or searching for their new jobs will not able to be hired because largely most of tasks are done by automations.
Furthermore, due to remarkable convenience and faster process of the automations, people are getting more accustomed to them. Since automations are the machine, it is apparent that they are more precise and faster than humans, which will boost the production or etc. For example, in the restaurant, my friend personally much like to make her food order by the machines, because it does not take a long time and much more convenient. This actively demonstrates that the jobs for people will be diminished a lot.
To wrap up, even though there are diversity of opinions from other people for this topic, I definitely agree that automations will affect people's occupation with aforementioned reasons.
