Thanks for the straight talk and being honest with the criteria.

Thinking about the scoring criterion. It is highly demanding. Language use, delivery and development. Within 45 seconds, we need to say as good as native speakers. I doubt natives could say well.

The response is completely off topic… Why it is important does not equal why you like it.not even a subtle difference.

Hey, Steve! Nice video! I would like to know if I'll get my score reduced if I make very short pauses in my speech, like a natural "ahm…" when you try to explain something in real life. I wonder about this because I noticed that always do this "ahm", and I've heard that toefl speaking answers are first evaluated by a computer program. Will it differentiate this "I prefer coffee instead of tea" from "I prefer coffee instead of ah…tea."? I'm worried it will recognize it as a defined article "a tea", which would be grammatically wrong.
Carmelo Junior says
It is sad that highly educated individuals that are not native English speakers and who want to attend graduate school or being certified in the USA have to be scored by their answers in so limited time and unfavorable conditions(listening to other test takers on the next cubicle, test supervisors walking around). I hope the raters just score the test takers if they actually answer the question and are at least understood, even if they have strong accents or have multiple pauses. If they are at least understood and answer the question they should get at least 24, even with speaking lapses, strong pronunciations and lack of fluent speech.

When she said she is living in U.S and will bring up here children, i think she meant that her kinds are still in her country and she will file for them to come over to US.

Hey Mr. Steve i have a question that bothered me when i am watching this.
Is it correct to say " listening to music helps me to take my mind off my worries" instead of "listening to music helps take my mind off my worries" ?
Thank you

From https://www.ets.org/toefl/ibt/scores/understand/ and also from TOEFL score report, the official interpretation for score 4, 3, 2 and 1 should be good, fair, limited and weak.

Hey Steve hope you're well. I gave up studying after a separation from my gf, and last Tuesday we started again to our relationship and that's why I returned to the game. I have only six days, so my practice scores came as 22-18-23-27, if I use notes can I have a nice progress? Has it really huge effect on our listening and writing scores? If I really build an unbeatable structure about this method I can take it all. What's your opinion?

"Dont say the same things twice because… it gets repetitive, it gets redundant." Funny way to advise people not to say redundant things by actually doing so in that very sentence 😀
