Very sound realistic advice. Another technique worth trying is to listen to short sentences and think how many words there are. You would need the transcript for this.

I was born and spent most of time in S.Korea.
Currently, I've been living in Australia. For me, having trouble with catching English would come from old people, teenagers.
For example, when I order something in KFC, it's not easy to make an order for new one I've never tried.
Because most teenagers getting order, they speak very quick, short and their own accent.
I think talking with teenagers in Australia is a challenge.
Another one, if you get a chance to talk with the old in local pub, you would be in panic.
The reason why they use lots of slang, unclear voice with lots of drink .
But, you can have a fun with them.
Lastly, well, I hate to say ,but personally I am not used to Indian English accent.
Need more time.!!
I 🧡 Oxford Online English.
